Blog 8: English Language Challenges

Imagen
Hi everyone ✌✌✌ This week I will tell you about the experience and challenge of learning English. The online classes were very good. Each class contained current topics, be they political or social. This modality gives more enthusiasm to learn a new language. On the other hand, I like the use of blogs, since one can practice writing and modify the way of thinking and writing in English. I think blogging should continue to be used as a learning tool. I have to be honest ... I really don't like English as a language. I would like the university to give us the opportunity to choose which language to study. I don't like the idea that English is the universal language, leaving other languages relegated as a second or third category. Despite this, learning English at university has been a great challenge for me. I find it difficult to acquire vocabulary, manage verb tenses, pronunciation, etc. Despite all these drawbacks, I think I have made progress. Today I can speak with...

Hi everyone! I hope everybody is fine. Today I will tell you about my favorite musical artist! Farrokh Bulsara, better known as Freddie Mercury, was born on September 5, 1946 in Stone Town, Zanzibar, Tanzania. He was a British singer, songwriter, pianist, graphic designer and musician of Parsi and Indian origin, known for having been the main vocalist of the rock band Queen. As a performer, he has been recognized for his powerful voice and outlandish stagings. As a composer, he wrote many of Queen's hits. My favorite songs are: Killer Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody, Somebody to Love, We Are the Champions, Don't Stop Me Now, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, It's a Hard Life or Innuendo. In addition, in the eighties he launched his solo career, which led him to publish two albums, Mr. Bad Guy (1985) and Barcelona (1988), the latter in collaboration with the Spanish soprano Montserrat Caballé. The self-titled single, a collaboration between the two, was the official song of t...

Blog 6: Postgraduate Studies

Imagen
Hello everyone again. This week I will tell you about a postgraduate course that I will study in the future. Since I entered university, I have been thinking about continuing to study. Sometimes I say no and sometimes I do, hahaha. Although I am not sure about this topic, I end up convincing myself that I should study something more and deepen my knowledge. During these university years, several of my compulsory courses, electives, and academic practices have revolved around social issues found in the public sphere. Thanks to these actions, I have been able to investigate in the areas of sexual diversity, feminism, gender, indigenous peoples, racism and migration. Therefore, I would like to obtain a postgraduate degree in one of these areas. Despite having all the enthusiasm, I don't think that next year or in 2022, I will start studying a postgraduate degree. This is for two reasons: 1) I think about the idea that you should acquire a little knowledge in the workplace and th...

Blog 5: My future job

Imagen
Hi ✌😊 This week I will tell about my work. I will talk about the expectations, dreams and wishes I have, my specialties in the area of Social Work and the average salary they pay here in Chile, among other things. I am a Social Work student at the University of Chile, I am in my fifth year and I am about to graduate, I only have the English course left and I finish. The discipline of Social Work in Chile does not receive a good salary. I dare say that it is one of the least valued disciplines within the institutional framework. This is because, in the midst of the dictatorship, it was removed from the educational curriculum as a university career. Today we can say that things have changed but the salary is still low. One of my wishes, once I graduate, is to find a job in my areas of expertise. I would like to work or build a project in a municipality like an office of sexual diversity or work on issues of social movements. All these areas fascinate me and are very interestin...

Hello everyone! Today I come to tell you about my favorite pets. At home we have 3 pets. Thanks to the space and land of our home we can have that many animals. We live in the countryside, Cordillera de Molina, Maule Region. My pets are called Chola and Lizzie. Both are race Labrador. Apart from her, we have with us the mother of both: Bianca. Chola and Lizzie have lived with us for 2 years, because, Bianca got pregnant and had a litter of 10 dogs. I met Chola and Lizzie on the day of their birth. Chola was the only black-haired dog while Lizzie was the only one with white fur except her ears. I fell in love with both as soon as they were born. Today, both are very naughty. They really like playing with each other. It is fun to see them in the yard of the house running and jumping. I like that they are both loving and playful. I must confess, even though they are very naughty, they are both grumpy. When they don't know someone they don't stop barking. I love chola a...

Blog 3: Favorite Series or Movie

Hello everyone. Today I will tell you about one of my favorite movies: Bohemian Rhapsody. Since I was little I listened to the music of Freddie Mercury, I grew up with it. My cousins were fans of his music and every day, in the afternoons, they listened to his songs. From there comes my fascination with this artist. I like The Bohemian Rhapsody movie, because it tells the story of Freddy Mercury, from his beginnings as an artist until before he died. Also, part of his personal history identifies me with him. I am identified by that constant looking for his identity, for the parental acceptance, especially from his father due to his taste for music and his sexual orientation.  The film takes you on a fascinating journey through the life of this musical artist. It makes you navigate different emotions; you go from joy to rage, euphoria and pain at times. But it is a film that I recommend to see. This movie was released in 2018 and it has biographical, dramatic and musical cha...
